
NORTH CAROLINA — Two men face drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop in north Charlotte that led to the discovery of firearms and nearly a pound of marijuana, police said.
Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department stopped a vehicle on Nov. 13 in the 900 block of West Sugar Creek Road for a taillight violation. During the stop, both the driver and passenger admitted to having concealed firearms, and neither had a permit to carry them.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 386 grams of suspected marijuana, nearly $1,200 in cash, and two firearms.
Andrae Juwan Burnette and Rayvon Sharriff Ponder were arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, and carrying a concealed firearm.
