NORTH CAROLINA — The Kinston Police Department arrested two individuals on drug-related charges following traffic stops on Thursday, Sept. 4, officials said.

During the stops, K-9 Kilo performed open-air sniffs around the vehicles, alerting officers to the presence of contraband.

In the first stop, Shirly Grady, 64, had crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a concealed handgun found in her vehicle. She was charged with possession of Schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed firearm.

Hours later, officers stopped Robert Williams, 70, who had an outstanding arrest warrant related to a drug case. K-9 Kilo again alerted officers to contraband in Williams’ vehicle, leading to the discovery of crack cocaine. Williams was charged with possession of Schedule II drugs in addition to the outstanding warrant.

Both arrests followed searches prompted by the K-9 alerts, and the investigation remains ongoing.
