Two people arrested following drug bust in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — A months-long investigation into fentanyl distribution in Gastonia has led to the arrest of a man authorities say was a primary distributor in the area.

Jalen Williams was taken into custody without incident after three search warrants were executed at homes connected to him, the Gastonia Police Department announced.

The investigation was conducted with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit.

During the operation, investigators seized several firearms—some possibly stolen or unlawfully possessed—about $10,000 in cash believed to be drug proceeds, and large amounts of narcotics.

Police said the seizures included fentanyl pills in trafficking quantities, methamphetamine in both powder and crystal form, more than 14 pounds of marijuana, and cocaine in powder and mixed form.

Williams faces multiple state charges, including trafficking in opiates, possession with intent to distribute, and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance distribution.

Police said Williams was identified as a suspect through intelligence gathering. Undercover purchases and surveillance linked him to trafficking-level fentanyl sales and a broader drug network.

“This case underscores our department’s commitment to removing dangerous narcotics from our community and holding those responsible accountable,” Gastonia Police Chief Trent Conard said. “The opioid crisis has touched far too many families in North Carolina, and collaborative investigations like this are vital to protecting public safety.”

The U.S. Marshal’s Service, Belmont Police Department, Gaston EMS, and Gastonia Fire Department also assisted in the operation. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, with additional charges and arrests possible.
