NORTH CAROLINA — A North Carolina couple faces multiple drug-related charges after a coordinated law enforcement operation on July 30, 2025.
The Craven County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Bureau and the New Bern Police Department’s Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at 710 Bear Hole Road in Vanceboro as part of an investigation into Zachary Charles Stephens, 32, suspected of selling illegal drugs from his home.
Stephens was stopped during a traffic stop, which provided probable cause to search his residence. During the search, officers arrested Stephens and his girlfriend, Hope Kathleen Hasher, 28.
Authorities seized 17 grams of fentanyl at the residence. Stephens faces multiple felony charges including trafficking heroin or opium, possession with intent to sell fentanyl, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hasher faces similar charges.
Both suspects are currently held without bond at the Craven County Detention Facility, awaiting their initial court appearance.
The Craven County Sheriff’s Office reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug crimes and maintaining community safety.
