NORTH CAROLINA — Craven County authorities announced a major drug bust Wednesday following a months-long investigation that led to the seizure of a large quantity of illegal drugs, vape products, edibles, and firearms from a trailer home in Vanceboro.
During a press conference, Sheriff Chip Hughes described the operation — carried out at a residence on Oak Grove Road — as one of the most significant in county history. He emphasized the potential dangers the seized items posed to children and the broader community.
The investigation was a joint effort between the Craven County Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office, and the Special Bureau of Investigations.
According to Hughes, the volume of seized materials was so large that it filled most of the courtroom and took two full days to inventory.
Two men have been charged in connection with the case and are being held on a $1.2 million bond. Their identities have not yet been released.
The case remains under investigation, and Hughes stated that most of the confiscated products will likely be destroyed after the investigation is complete.
