
KENTUCKY — Two people were arrested Tuesday night on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop in Paducah, police said.
According to Paducah police, Officer Austin Gruner conducted a traffic stop around 10:12 p.m. March 10 in the 2700 block of Irvin Cobb Drive on a vehicle driven by Branson L. Waldridge.
Officer Ben Anthony and his K-9 partner, Bary, arrived to assist during the stop. Police said the K-9 alerted officers to the possible presence of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle.
Officers searched the vehicle and seized more than an ounce of methamphetamine, several ounces of marijuana, a handgun and drug paraphernalia, authorities said.
Police said Waldridge, 27, of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, is a convicted felon with previous convictions for methamphetamine trafficking and weapons offenses. He was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A passenger in the vehicle, Logan R. Griffith, 22, of Tiline, Kentucky, was also arrested. Griffith was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both suspects were taken to the McCracken County Jail.
