INDIANA — A routine traffic stop on March 31 led to the arrest of two individuals on drug-related charges, according to the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 3:34 p.m., Deputy Eric Powell pulled over a gray Ford Edge on U.S. 41 near County Road 800 South after observing the vehicle failing to maintain its lane.
The driver was identified as 40-year-old Carla Embry of Harrisburg, Illinois.
During the stop, Deputy Powell detected signs of possible drug activity and requested assistance from Sgt. Loren Barchett and his K9 partner, Duke.
Following a roadside investigation, both Embry and a passenger, 46-year-old Paul Abshear of Henderson, Kentucky, were taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail.
Embry faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Abshear was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
Deputies Wes Baumgart, Sgt. Barchett, and K9 Duke assisted in the investigation.
Authorities remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
