GEORGIA — Two men from metro Atlanta were arrested earlier this week after Monroe County deputies said they discovered hundreds of prescription pills hidden inside a candy bag during a traffic stop.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies pulled over a vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 75 near mile marker 191. As deputies approached the vehicle, they reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana, which led to a search of the car.
During the search, deputies said they found a Turtles chocolate pecan candy bag in the back passenger area that contained approximately 300 oxycodone pills. Both the driver and the passenger were taken into custody at the scene.
The men were identified as Antoine Tarence Seymore, 48, of Decatur, and James Rodgerick Whitiker, 44, of McDonough. Both were charged with trafficking oxycodone and were booked into the Monroe County Jail without bond.
Authorities also said Whitiker was found to have an active warrant issued by the U.S. Marshals Service for identity fraud. The case remains under investigation.
