GEORGIA — Two men were arrested Monday afternoon following a police chase that ended in a crash and foot pursuit in unincorporated Decatur, according to the DeKalb County Police Department.
Around 5 p.m., an officer spotted a Honda swerving on Candler Road near Toney Drive.
When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle sped off, leading to a pursuit through Glenwood Road and Columbia Drive. The chase ended on Elgin Drive when the driver struck a parked car, police said.
Both the driver and passenger fled on foot. Officers quickly apprehended the passenger, while the driver was located shortly afterward with assistance from aerial surveillance and K-9 units.
Inside the vehicle, police said they recovered an assault rifle, two handguns, cash, over a pound of marijuana, and several grams of oxycodone.
The passenger, identified as 24-year-old Donovan Hudson, was taken to the DeKalb County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including obstruction of a law enforcement officer, possession of oxycodone, and two firearms-related offenses.
The driver, 20-year-old Saderrick Noid, was taken to a hospital for treatment of an injury. Police said he will be booked into jail upon release, though his specific charges have not yet been announced.
“Illegal drugs and guns have no place on the streets of DeKalb County,” police said in a statement. “The community deserves to feel safe wherever they live, and DeKalb County Police will continue to work diligently to remove dangers like this from their neighborhoods.”
