ALABAMA — Two men were arrested on drug trafficking and other charges following a narcotics investigation in Jefferson County, officials said.
On Thursday, Sept. 25, detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, as part of Operation Guardian Sweep, were in the area of Highway 269 and McDonalds Chapel Road when they conducted a traffic stop on a car that failed to signal a lane change.
The stop led to the arrest of 26-year-old Robert Clark Jr. and 22-year-old Anthony Walker and the seizure of narcotics.
The traffic stop also provided information that allowed detectives to obtain a search warrant for a home on the 3300 block of Bond Avenue.
Clark Jr. was charged with two counts of drug trafficking and failure to signal a lane change, with bonds totaling $3,000,300. Walker was charged with two counts of drug trafficking and second-degree rape and is being held without bond.
Authorities said the investigation resulted in the seizure of 59 grams of fentanyl, 142 grams of methamphetamine, a Glock 9mm handgun, pistol magazines, narcotic packaging material, and more than $21,000 in cash.
Sheriff Mark Pettway praised Operation Guardian Sweep, saying it reflects “disciplined leadership and shared responsibility” and strengthens public confidence. FBI Special Agent David R. Fitzgibbons added that apprehending fugitives protects communities and families.
