ALABAMA — Two people from Hartselle were arrested on drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop that led to a larger investigation, authorities said.
Priceville Police stopped a vehicle around 12:30 a.m. Thursday on the northbound 334 off-ramp of I-65. The occupants were identified as 31-year-old Houston Brooks McElroy and 31-year-old Kara Elizabeth Boyles, both of Hartselle.
After establishing probable cause, officers conducted a narcotics investigation and discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
A search warrant was obtained and executed at a home on May Road in Hartselle with assistance from the Morgan County Drug Enforcement Unit.
Authorities said the search uncovered additional methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana, digital scales, and a firearm.
McElroy was charged with trafficking in dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Boyles was charged with trafficking in dangerous drugs. Both were taken to the Morgan County Jail.
Priceville Police Chief Jerry Holmes thanked the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance. A Morgan County Circuit Judge set McElroy’s bond at $200,600 and Boyles’ bond at $200,000.
