
ALABAMA — Two men were arrested following a drug bust in Coosa County, according to authorities.
Officials said the operation was part of a narcotics investigation conducted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office through its Narcotics Division, with assistance from multiple agencies.
Authorities executed a search warrant on a home along New Prospect Road on March 27. During the search, investigators said they seized multiple firearms, a large quantity of illegal drugs, and more than $11,000 in cash.
Two suspects, identified as Justin Jay Whaley and James Elvin Cook, were taken into custody.
Both men are facing multiple charges, including trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, first-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being certain persons forbidden to possess a pistol.
Henry Lambert expressed appreciation for the agencies involved in the operation, including the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Lineville Police Department, Ashland Police Department, Oxford Police Department, the Clay County Rescue Squad, and the Clay and Coosa County District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation remains ongoing.
