NORTH CAROLINA — Two men were arrested on drug charges during a driver’s license checkpoint in Lenoir County, according to the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the checkpoint was conducted around midnight on April 4 by deputies with C-Shift in the area of the 500 block of NC Highway 903 South.

During the operation, deputies made contact with Jordan Parks of Seven Springs and Daniel Deprospo of La Grange. Officials said deputies detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, leading to a probable cause search.

According to investigators, the search resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana.

Parks was taken to the Lenoir County Jail and given a $5,000 secured bond. He was charged with felony possession of cocaine and simple possession of marijuana.

Deprospo was also transported to the Lenoir County Jail and received a $40,000 secured bond. He was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver methamphetamine. Authorities said he also had an outstanding order for arrest from Wayne County for possession of methamphetamine.

Officials said the information was released by the sheriff’s office and reflects details known as of April 6.

The investigation remains ongoing.
