PENNSYLVANIA — Two men are facing numerous weapons and drug charges following a police operation in York.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Kayvon Ward, 20, of York, and Jordan Hargrove, 34, of Winchester, Kansas, were arrested Monday after allegedly arranging to sell firearms to a confidential informant in York City.
Charging documents state that the informant contacted police, saying he could purchase two firearms from Ward.
After confirming Ward’s identity and details about a rental vehicle he was using, investigators instructed the informant to arrange a meeting. The sale was set for around 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of North Pershing Avenue and Jefferson Avenue.
Police said Ward and Hargrove arrived in a rented black Nissan Altima. When officers moved in, the suspects allegedly attempted to flee, striking another vehicle while trying to evade a patrol car. The driver of the other vehicle suffered facial lacerations and was treated by EMS.
Hargrove reportedly attempted to flee on foot but was captured after a short chase.
Authorities said they recovered multiple firearms from the vehicle, including a Glock 29 10mm handgun, a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380 handgun, a Canik TP9 9mm handgun, a Sarsilmaz SAR 9mm handgun and a CD Defense Honcho 20-gauge pistol-grip shotgun. Investigators also seized ammunition, methamphetamine, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia.
Hargrove, a convicted felon who police say was on parole in Kansas, faces multiple felony firearms and drug charges. Ward is also charged with numerous felony offenses, including conspiracy and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, as well as several traffic-related offenses tied to the crash.
Both men are being held at the York County Prison after failing to post bail. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for March 10.
