FLORIDA — Two men were arrested after deputies responded to a reported shooting in Ruskin early Saturday morning, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said deputies were called around 2:14 a.m. to the area of Cockroach Bay Road after receiving a 911 call about gunfire. Investigators say a red vehicle drove by and fired multiple shots toward an RV while people were inside sleeping.
When deputies arrived, they found spent shell casings and other evidence confirming a shooting had occurred.
Officials later located a vehicle matching the suspect description and conducted a traffic stop. Deputies reported finding evidence inside the vehicle consistent with a discharged firearm.
The driver, identified as 33-year-old Dustin Wise, allegedly admitted to firing multiple rounds into the air. He was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
The passenger, 50-year-old Christopher Kickliter, is accused of possessing and firing the weapon despite being a convicted felon on probation. He faces multiple charges, including shooting into a vehicle, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon, and violation of probation.
Authorities noted Kickliter previously served 20 years in prison for charges including attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer.
No injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
