GEORGIA — A man and woman were arrested for allegedly selling a stolen vehicle in Marietta, authorities say.
Columbus Police report that Ashley Herring and David Parr were connected to the theft of a 1973 Nissan Datsun 240SX, stolen from a residence near 17th Avenue in Columbus on July 23. The car belonged to the victim’s late father.
Herring was first arrested on July 24. Police say a search of her phone revealed that she and Parr sold the vehicle in Marietta using a forged Bill of Sale and the identity of Herring’s deceased mother. The stolen car was recovered on August 4.
After Herring bonded out, additional charges and warrants were obtained, leading to both Herring and Parr being arrested again on August 6. They were transported to the Muscogee County Jail. Following a Recorder’s Court hearing on August 13, probable cause was found, and the case was moved to Superior Court.
Police noted that Herring had previously been arrested for selling items on Facebook Marketplace that did not belong to her, and investigators suspect the stolen vehicle may have been targeted in a similar way.
