OHIO — Two people were arrested Tuesday morning after Westlake police found suspected methamphetamine inside a van during a traffic stop.

According to the Westlake Police Department, an officer saw a vehicle leaving the WestSpring Inn on Sperry Drive around 9 a.m. The vehicle’s registered owner had a felony warrant out of Franklin County for a probation violation.

Police stopped the van near the intersection of Columbia Road and Detroit Road. A man was driving the vehicle with a woman in the passenger seat.

Authorities said neither person had a valid driver’s license, and both had outstanding warrants.

Before the vehicle was towed, officers searched the van and discovered a small container labeled “drugs inside.” Police said the container held a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. A meth pipe was also found nearby.

The driver, a 40-year-old man from Grove City, was taken to the county jail to await extradition to Franklin County. The passenger, a 40-year-old woman from Akron, was processed and released.

Police said both individuals are expected to be indicted on felony drug possession charges once the case is presented to the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury. Authorities have not released the names of those arrested.
