WISCONSIN — A high-speed police chase that began on Farwell Avenue near Royall Place and traveled through downtown Milwaukee ended in a crash and multiple arrests, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.
The chase started Dec. 22 after an officer spotted a Dodge Ram truck parked in an alley known for drug distribution and drug use, according to a criminal complaint. A check with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation showed the truck’s registration was suspended. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled.
Police identified the driver as Michael Lee Singleton, 35. Authorities said the pursuit reached speeds of up to 105 miles per hour as it moved through downtown Milwaukee before ending near 9th and Mineral streets. Singleton eventually lost control of the truck, crashing into a fence.
Both Singleton and a passenger ran from the scene but were later arrested. The criminal complaint states the crash appeared to eject money from the truck. Investigators reported recovering more than $3,600 in cash, along with illegal drugs including fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, and cocaine.
The passenger, Brianna Coyle, 22, is charged with bail jumping and obstruction after allegedly giving police a false name.
Singleton faces nine charges, including second-degree recklessly endangering safety, multiple counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm by a felon. The case remains pending in court.
