OHIO — Two students are in custody after police discovered firearms at a Springfield school on Jan. 29.
Springfield officers were called to Opportunities Industry Center around 9 a.m. after staff found a gun with a loaded magazine inside a student’s backpack.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the backpack belonged to Parker Hall.
Hall was handcuffed and searched, but officers initially found nothing on him.
As he was being escorted from the school, Hall admitted he had another gun.
Police then found a Glock 23 with a device resembling a “switch,” which can convert a pistol into an automatic weapon, hidden in his pant leg.
Hall claimed the gun belonged to another student, Tavion Compton, who had asked him to hold it.
Security footage later showed Hall and Compton entering a bathroom together.
Both were arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
