WEST VIRGINIA — Two men from Columbus, Ohio, are facing charges after a traffic stop in Wheeling’s Warwood neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, according to city police.
Alphonso Curtis Campbell, 22, was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Kewai Tyrone Hunter, 24, was charged with being a fugitive from justice and destruction of property. Both were taken to the Northern Regional Jail.
Police said the incident began around 2:30 p.m. when an officer stopped a vehicle near Warwood Avenue and North 11th Street. As the officer approached, one of the passengers ran from the car. Officers later located the suspect on Viking Drive.
A search of the suspect, the surrounding area, and the vehicle led to the discovery of illegal drugs, including a large amount of methamphetamine, according to police.
Out of caution, Wheeling Police recommended schools in the area briefly lock down while the search was underway.
