OHIO — Kohl’s Corporation has announced plans to close 27 underperforming stores across the United States, including two locations in Ohio.

The affected Ohio stores are in Blue Ash, located at 4150 Hunt Road, and Forest Park in Cincinnati, located at 100 Cincinnati Mills Drive.

The closures, scheduled for completion by April 2025, are part of a broader strategy to optimize Kohl’s real estate portfolio and strengthen the company’s long-term growth.

In addition to the store closures, the company will shut down its San Bernardino, California, E-commerce Fulfillment Center (EFC) in May 2025 when the lease expires.

“We always take these decisions very seriously,” said Kohl’s CEO Tom Kingsbury. “As we continue to build on our long-term growth strategy, it is important that we also take difficult but necessary actions to support the health and future of our business for our customers and our teams.”

All impacted employees have been informed and offered severance packages or opportunities to apply for other positions within the company.

Kohl’s expressed gratitude for its associates’ contributions and stated it is committed to supporting them during this transition.

Kohl’s, which operates more than 1,150 stores nationwide, emphasized that the closures are limited to underperforming locations and do not reflect the overall health of its profitable store base.

The Blue Ash and Forest Park closures mark a significant change for Kohl’s presence in the Cincinnati area, as the company continues to focus on improving efficiencies and reallocating resources.

For customers, Kohl’s assured that its remaining Ohio stores and online shopping options will continue to provide service.
