OHIO — The Columbus Division of Police is investigating the death of an infant discovered buried Monday afternoon in north Columbus.
Officers responded to the 4000 block of Karl Road around 1:07 p.m., where they found a shallow grave containing a deceased infant. The Franklin County Coroner’s Office pronounced the child dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives traced the investigation to a home on the city’s west side, where two juveniles, a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, were arrested.
Police said the juvenile parents had hidden the mother’s pregnancy, and when the infant died, they buried it at the Karl Road location. Both juveniles face charges of involuntary manslaughter and abuse of a corpse.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at (614) 645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at (614) 461-TIPS (8477).
