Two dead after colliding with semi truck on U.S. 35 in Ohio

GREENE COUNTY — Two people from Wisconsin were killed in a crash on U.S. Route 35 in Greene County on Saturday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 8:45 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 35 and North Valley Road.

Investigators report that a semi-trailer was stopped at a red light on the eastbound side of U.S. 35 when a U-Haul truck pulling a trailer collided with it from behind.

The driver of the U-Haul, Val Vern McLuff, 78, and his passenger, Veronica Smith, 64, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

A dog that was in the U-Haul also died in the crash.

The driver of the semi-trailer was uninjured. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
