NORTH CAROLINA — Police say two people have been arrested as part of an ongoing homicide investigation connected to the death of Daryl Dudley.

On Friday, Aug. 29, detectives with the Kinston Police Department, assisted by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, executed a search warrant at 309 McDaniels Street.

During the search, investigators recovered three firearms, including two handguns — one outfitted with an illegal “switch” device converting it into a fully automatic weapon — and an AR-style pistol.

Authorities said 20-year-old Yahmeek Coward and 24-year-old Shakoy Williams were found in the room with the weapons. Both were charged with possession of a machine gun and possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

Police said Coward was released after posting bond, while Williams remains in custody under a secured bond.

The homicide investigation remains active. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Kinston Police Department at (252) 939-3160 or Lenoir County Crime Stoppers at (252) 523-4444.
