Traffic stop leads to drug bust in Tennessee, one person arrested

TENNESSEE — A routine traffic stop in Dyer County led to a drug arrest after deputies discovered multiple narcotics inside a vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said the incident began when deputies pulled over a black Ford Explorer near the intersection of Highway 104 West and Shannon Street in Finley due to expired tags. During the stop, deputies also learned the driver had an active warrant.

A police K-9 named Max was deployed at the scene and alerted deputies to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. Following the alert, deputies conducted a search of the SUV.

According to the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office, investigators located approximately 82 grams of methamphetamine, a quarter gram of fentanyl, and 34 ecstasy pills.

The driver, identified as 42-year-old John Morris, was taken into custody. He faces multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and ecstasy with intent to sell or deliver.

The case remains under investigation.
