
ILLINOIS — A tornado watch has been issued for multiple counties across central and west-central Illinois Friday evening, as severe storms move through the region.
According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Tornado Watch 94 remains in effect until 10 p.m. CDT for portions of central Illinois.
Counties included in the watch are Cass, Ford, Fulton, Iroquois, Knox, Livingston, Marshall, Mason, McLean, Menard, Peoria, Schuyler, Stark, Tazewell and Woodford.
In west-central Illinois, additional counties under Tornado Watch 92 include Adams, Brown, Hancock, Henderson, McDonough and Warren.
Communities within the watch area include Peoria, Bloomington-Normal, Galesburg, Canton, Havana, Lincoln, Pontiac, Rushville, Macomb, Quincy and Monmouth.
Forecasters warn that storms moving through the region may produce a few tornadoes, large hail and damaging wind gusts.
Residents in the affected areas are urged to remain alert and have a way to receive warnings as conditions can change rapidly.
The tornado watches are expected to remain in effect through the evening hours as the storm system tracks across Illinois.
