MARYLAND — A three-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks and a passenger vehicle shut down Interstate 70 in both directions Wednesday morning, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA).
The crash occurred near Maryland Route 32 in West Friendship and involved one semi hauling roof trusses.
The impact of the collision caused the trusses to spill across the eastbound lanes, blocking traffic and creating a significant cleanup effort.
As a result, I-70 was temporarily closed in both directions while crews worked to clear the debris and investigate the cause of the crash.
Traffic was detoured around the scene using Maryland Routes 97, 144, and 32.
Authorities have not reported any injuries or provided details on what led to the crash.
Drivers in the area experienced significant delays throughout the morning.
The Maryland SHA advised motorists to seek alternate routes and expect extended travel times as the scene remains under investigation.
