FLORIDA — Three people were hospitalized early Wednesday morning following a crash involving a Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue truck, according to officials.
The crash occurred around 4:15 a.m. at the intersection of West Broward Boulevard and Northwest Seventh Avenue.
Witnesses said a white car traveling on Northwest Seventh Avenue had the green light when a black car traveling on Broward Boulevard ran a red light and struck the white car. The impact caused the white car to spin and collide with a fire rescue truck that was stopped at the intersection.
Both civilian vehicles sustained significant damage. Crews used the Jaws of Life to extricate occupants from the white car.
Officials said no firefighters were injured in the crash. Fire rescue personnel on scene immediately began assisting the victims.
Paramedics transported three adults to Broward Health Medical Center. Their conditions have not been released.
Authorities also indicated a bottle of alcohol was recovered from the black car.
Broward Boulevard was shut down in both directions between Northwest Seventh and Ninth avenues for several hours following the crash but has since reopened.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is continuing to investigate.
