TENNESSEE — Three people were injured by what police believe was celebratory gunfire following the Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th fireworks display, officials said.
The Metro Nashville Police Department reported that the victims were found in different areas of downtown and were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-critical injuries.
The first victim, a 60-year-old man, was struck in the foot, though officials do not know his exact location when he was injured.
A 58-year-old woman was shot in the chest near 7th Avenue and Broadway while sitting on a staircase waiting for a shuttle.
A 26-year-old woman suffered wounds to her face, including the bridge of her nose and upper lip, while entering a rideshare vehicle near 1st Avenue and Demonbreun Street.
Police continue to investigate the source of the gunfire.
