FLORIDA — Police in Palm Bay are investigating a shooting that injured three people late Friday night at Castaways Point Park.
According to the Palm Bay Police Department, the incident occurred around midnight at Castaways Point Park, located at 2990 Bay Boulevard. Officers initially responded shortly before midnight on Jan. 23 to reports of gunshots heard near the area of Palm Bay Road and Main Street. A search of the area at that time did not immediately reveal evidence of a shooting.
Police said they were later notified just after midnight on Jan. 24 by a local hospital that three individuals with gunshot-related injuries had arrived for treatment. Investigators determined the shooting took place during a gathering at the park.
A 21-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while an 18-year-old man suffered a single gunshot wound described as a graze. A 16-year-old female sustained a graze wound and additional injuries caused by broken glass. Police said all injuries were non-life-threatening.
Investigators said the three victims were believed to be seated together inside a vehicle when they were approached by individuals wearing ski masks, who then fired into the vehicle.
No arrests have been made, and the incident remains an active investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Palm Bay Police Department or CrimeLine.
