GEORGIA — Three people were hospitalized early Saturday after a small propeller plane crashed into a residential yard near the Peachtree-DeKalb Airport, authorities said.
The crash happened around 12:25 a.m. at a home near Clairmont Road and 9th Street. Brookhaven police, Chamblee police, and DeKalb County firefighters responded to the scene.
All three occupants of the plane were taken to a trauma center. Their conditions have not been released, but police said they were conscious, alert, and breathing when transported.
Flight tracking data showed the Piper PA-28-151 Cherokee Warrior was returning from the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport in Rome when it veered off its landing path. The National Transportation Safety Board said the plane struck power lines and trees before crashing.
The aircraft is registered to All2fly Aviation Academy, a flight school based at Peachtree-DeKalb Airport. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
