OHIO — Three people were injured Wednesday afternoon after a semi-truck left the roadway and struck a house along U.S. 30, according to authorities.
In a press release, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the Lima Post responded to the crash at approximately 2:47 p.m. The incident involved a commercial semi-truck that traveled off the right side of the roadway while heading westbound.
Troopers identified the driver as 55-year-old Gerry Bright of Frankfort, Indiana. Bright was operating a 2022 Volvo semi when the truck struck a guardrail and a fence before crashing into a house. The impact caused the home to partially collapse and also damaged three parked vehicles.
Bright suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported from the scene by Beaverdam Richland EMS to Lima Memorial Health System.
At the time of the crash, two people were inside the house. Lawrence Myers, 51, of Lima, and Blake Vires, 21, were both injured. Authorities said their injuries were non-life-threatening, and both were taken to Mercy Health–St. Rita’s Medical Center for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
