TENNESSEE — Authorities are investigating after three people, including a young girl, were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Warren County, Tennessee.
According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a welfare check at a home on Greenwood Drive around 2 p.m. Sunday.
When deputies arrived, they entered the home and found three people dead. Investigators say the deaths appear to be the result of a murder-suicide.
Officials believe Joseph Nicholas Shelton Jr. shot and killed Randi Jean Shelton and their 8-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself.
Sheriff Jackie Matheny said the investigation is ongoing but assured the public there is no threat to the community.
Authorities are asking the community to keep the families affected by the tragedy in their thoughts and prayers as the investigation continues.
