
GEORGIA — Three people are in custody following an overnight shooting in Cordele that left a woman injured, according to the Cordele Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Flint Drive just before 11 p.m. in response to reports of gunfire.
Police said an initial investigation indicates that two vehicles, each carrying multiple people, exchanged gunfire.
During the incident, a woman in a separate vehicle was injured when a bullet passed through her windshield, causing glass debris to strike her. Authorities said her injuries were minor.
An officer later spotted one of the involved vehicles traveling north on 15th Street and conducted a traffic stop. Police said several people fled the vehicle on foot, but three individuals were taken into custody at the scene.
Those arrested were transported to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office. Their identities have not yet been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
