OHIO — Three people are in custody following a shooting that left one man injured Monday night in Monroe, according to the Monroe Police Department.
Officers were dispatched around 8 p.m. to Michigan Avenue just north of Lorain Street after receiving a report of a man who had been shot while inside his vehicle.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a hospital, where police said he was listed in stable condition and was able to speak with investigators.
Police said the shooting stemmed from a confrontation between the victim and the driver of an SUV.
During the encounter, two male individuals approached the victim’s vehicle, and one of them shot him. The victim’s two children, ages 14 and 11, were inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting but were not injured.
Detectives later identified the SUV driver and tracked the individuals to Adrian. With assistance from the Michigan State Police and Lenawee County authorities, all three suspects were taken into custody. Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Authorities also recovered three handguns believed to be connected to the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Monroe police.
