TEXAS — Three people were arrested and nearly 370 grams of suspected methamphetamines were seized following a traffic stop that escalated into a chase on FM 105, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.
Deputies attempted to stop a Ford Mustang convertible for reckless driving on Wednesday, Oct. 1, near FM 1135, but the driver refused to pull over, leading deputies on a pursuit along the highway.
During the chase, deputies observed someone in the Mustang throw a bag onto the ground near the 10,000 block of FM 105. The vehicle was eventually stopped near FM 105 and Oilla Road. The driver, Harold Pues, and passengers Jacienda Jones and Jerod Atkins were detained.
The discarded bag was recovered and found to contain suspected methamphetamines. Pues was charged with evading in a motor vehicle, tampering with evidence, and possession of a controlled substance PG1 greater than 400 grams.
Jones and Atkins were each charged with possession of a controlled substance PG1 greater than 400 grams. All three were taken to the Orange County Jail.
Sheriff Bobby Smith credited the operation to collaboration among multiple agencies and tips from the community.
“The Orange County Sheriff’s Office received valuable information from concerned citizens regarding suspected drug activity, and our deputies worked closely with the Orange Police Department and West Orange Police Department to identify suspects bringing drugs into Orange County,” Smith said. He praised the coordinated effort for leading to a safe resolution.
