ALABAMA — Federal agents carried out coordinated raids across six counties in east and central Alabama as part of a major investigation into fraud and drug activity.
The operation stems from a federal indictment against Cesar Camos Reyes, who is now considered a fugitive. Reyes faces four counts each of bank fraud and wire fraud, along with a charge of money laundering.
According to the indictment, Reyes fraudulently secured approximately $225,000 in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans by submitting false documentation linked to restaurants that were raided during the enforcement action. Authorities believe the funds were used for illegitimate purposes.
During the execution of the search warrants, law enforcement uncovered large quantities of methamphetamine, powder and crack cocaine, pills, over 20 firearms, and a significant amount of cash.
Investigators say the drug-related findings indicate distribution-level activity.
Three individuals were arrested during the operation. Two face charges related to harboring undocumented immigrants, while the third was charged in connection with controlled substances.
Officials also reported encountering more than 40 undocumented individuals, who were detained by immigration authorities.
The raids were part of a joint effort involving federal and state agencies. Reyes is believed to be a resident of Lee County. Authorities are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact law enforcement.
