PENNSYLVANIA — City police arrested three men Saturday afternoon after officers observed a suspected drug deal at Binns and Ewell Park, according to a news release from the Lancaster City Bureau of Police.
The arrests came around 1:20 p.m. as officers were conducting surveillance in the park due to a recent spike in overdoses in the area.
During the operation, police say they witnessed a drug transaction take place.
Officers stopped the alleged buyer, Carlos Santiago-Seranno, 43, who was reportedly found in possession of four bags of K2, a synthetic drug. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Police also located the alleged seller, James McGhee, 52. He was found with a large amount of cash and drug paraphernalia, authorities said.
McGhee was charged with possession with intent to deliver, delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A third man, William McClung, 62, was arrested after allegedly trying to walk away with the drugs sold to Santiago-Seranno.
McClung was charged with possession with intent to deliver, tampering with evidence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
“This incident is a strong example of proactive policing in action,” the department said in its release. “This simple stop by our officers likely prevented future overdoses and disrupted drug activity in the downtown area.”
Police thanked the officers involved for their work in helping to keep the community safe.
