NORTH CAROLINA — Authorities have taken three juveniles into custody following an armed robbery at a local business last month.
The Red Springs Police Department said officers responded to the 200 block of East 4th Avenue on August 21 after reports that two male suspects entered a store, pointed a handgun at employees and customers, and demanded cash.
Police said the suspects also took more than $3,000 worth of merchandise before fleeing. No injuries were reported.
Responding officers quickly secured the area and recovered the weapon used during the robbery. Surveillance footage later revealed a third suspect acting as a lookout. Police recognized all three juveniles from a previous shoplifting incident just days earlier.
Red Springs police worked with the Raeford Police Department, Hoke County Schools, and Robeson County Schools to locate and arrest the suspects.
All three juveniles are being held at the Cumberland County Juvenile Detention Center and are awaiting their first court appearance.
