Three men arrested in connection with death of Ohio man

Ohio Statewide

AKRON — Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) have arrested three men wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Jamar E. Franklin, 29.

Khairi Moorer, 23, Derek Edwards, 19, and Robert Davis, 19, were apprehended following a week-long investigation. All three face charges of aggravated murder.

The incident began on November 7, when Akron police responded to a single-car crash at the intersection of South Main Street and West Miller Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Franklin inside the vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital but later died.

Investigators determined that Franklin had been shot while sitting in his car in a carryout parking lot on West Long Street. Despite his injuries, he managed to drive a short distance before crashing.

Police identified Moorer, Edwards, and Davis as suspects and issued warrants for their arrests. On Thursday, November 14, task force members arrested Moorer at a residence on Ido Avenue.

The following morning, Edwards and Davis were taken into custody at a home on Kling Street.

“Outstanding investigative work by the Akron Police Department detective bureau led to the identification of the three suspects allegedly involved in this deadly incident,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.

“Our task force worked closely with Akron Police over the past week to get these violent fugitives in custody as quickly as possible.”

Authorities encourage anyone with information about a fugitive to contact the NOVFTF at 1-866-4WANTED (1-866-492-6833) or submit a tip online. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
