Three indicted for attempted murder of Ohio police officers

CLEVELAND — A grand jury in Cuyahoga County has indicted three people accused of shooting at Cleveland police officers in a late October incident.

The suspects – Ray Agosto, 39; Wayne Agosto, 32; and Dakota Greene, 25 – now face over 90 charges, including attempted murder, aggravated riot, and illegal firearm discharge.

The incident occurred on Oct. 28 near Denison Avenue and West 31st Street, where police were searching for Ray Agosto, wanted in connection with an earlier assault.

According to officials, Wayne Agosto fired multiple shots at officers, who returned fire, injuring him. He was later taken to a hospital, while Ray Agosto and Greene fled the scene.

A fourth individual, Dylan Mitchell, was also arrested at the scene and is facing charges related to firearms and evidence tampering.

Earlier that day, prosecutors allege Ray Agosto approached his 56-year-old neighbor, claiming he forgot his keys.

When she opened the door, he reportedly revealed a gun and a knife and attempted to punch her, but missed. Her husband intervened, shutting the door, and Ray Agosto fled before officers arrived.

The altercations follow a week of escalating incidents involving Ray Agosto. Prosecutors allege that days before the police shootout, he forced his way into the same couple’s home and threatened them.

They later found shell casings under the hood of their car. Additionally, Ray Agosto is accused of firing shots at a 35-year-old man’s home during an ongoing dispute.

Several days later, Ray Agosto, Greene, and a third suspect, Jordan Stacer, reportedly returned to the man’s home, fired at a vehicle parked in the driveway, and fled.

Stacer was also indicted on charges including aggravated riot, breaking and entering, and criminal damaging.

Dakota Greene faces additional charges stemming from a Sept. 30 incident in which he allegedly fired on four men outside a diner near Pearl Road and Denison Avenue.

Authorities apprehended Greene at an apartment complex on Oct. 28, and Ray Agosto was arrested after a two-hour standoff with U.S. Marshals and Cleveland SWAT the following day.

As of now, no court dates have been set for the suspects.
