
VIRGINIA — Three high school seniors were killed in a late-night crash in Spotsylvania County, according to authorities.
The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred around 11:46 p.m. Friday in the 5300 block of Lewiston Road.
Deputies reported that a single vehicle, a 2002 Mercedes coupe, left the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. First responders arrived to find three occupants inside the vehicle, all of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said the victims were ages 18, 17 and 17 and were seniors at Spotsylvania High School. They were expected to graduate in the coming months.
Authorities believe speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The names of the victims have not yet been released. The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office Crash Reconstruction Unit.
