Thousands without power in Wisconsin

WISCONSIN — Tens of thousands of residents across Wisconsin are without electricity Thursday morning, according to the latest data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the most recent update, approximately 23,878 customers are without power statewide. That represents about 0.82% of the more than 2.9 million customers tracked across Wisconsin.

Waupaca County is the hardest-hit area, reporting 6,079 outages, which accounts for more than 22% of its customers.

Other heavily impacted counties include Outagamie County with 5,202 outages, Brown County with 4,083, and Winnebago County with 1,882. Additional outages have been reported in Waushara, Sauk, Wood and Portage counties.

By utility provider, We Energies reports the largest number of customers affected, with 11,893 outages. Wisconsin Public Service follows with 6,360 outages, while Alliant Energy and Xcel Energy report smaller but still notable numbers.

Statewide, Wisconsin currently ranks among the highest in the nation for total outages and percentage of customers affected.
