
WISCONSIN — More than 17,000 homes and businesses across Wisconsin are without electricity Friday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.
The outage tracking service reported 17,579 customers without power out of more than 2.9 million customers monitored statewide, representing about 0.6% of customers. Wisconsin currently has the fourth-highest number of power outages in the United States, according to the site’s latest update.
We Energies reported the largest number of outages, with 8,031 customers without electricity. Other utilities reporting outages included Wisconsin Public Service with 3,710 customers affected, Alliant Energy with 2,668, Xcel Energy with 1,168, and Madison Gas & Electric with 939.
Several counties reported significant outages. Kenosha County had the largest number of customers without power with 2,509 outages, followed by Door County with 2,083 and Walworth County with 1,318. Other counties reporting outages included Dane County with 1,061 customers, Waukesha County with 987, Racine County with 948, and Dunn County with 937.
Utility crews across the state are continuing to monitor conditions and work to restore power to affected areas.
