
VIRGINIA — More than 2,600 homes and businesses in Virginia are without power Friday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.
As of the latest update, 2,640 customers statewide were experiencing outages, representing about 0.06% of the more than 4 million customers tracked across Virginia.
Hanover County reported the largest number of outages in the state, with 1,420 customers without electricity, accounting for about 2.26% of customers in that county.
Henrico County had 336 outages, while Nelson County reported 275 customers without power.
Additional outages were reported in Buchanan County, with 136 customers affected, and Dickenson County, where 108 customers were without electricity. Smaller outages were also reported in Newport News, Loudoun County, and Fairfax County.
Among utilities, Dominion Energy reported the largest number of outages with 2,064 customers without power, followed by Appalachian Power Company, which reported 548 outages. Smaller numbers of outages were reported by other utilities including Danville Utilities and several electric cooperatives.
Overall, Virginia ranked third in the nation for total outages Friday morning, according to the outage tracking website. Utility crews continue monitoring and working to restore service where outages have been reported.
