Thousands without power in Virginia following severe storms

VIRGINIA — Over 24,000 homes and businesses in Central Virginia remained without power Monday morning following severe weather that swept through the region over the weekend.

As of 9:25 a.m. on Monday, July 28, Dominion Energy reported the following outage totals in the area:

  • Henrico County: 9,385 customers
  • Hanover County: 8,183 customers
  • Richmond: 3,347 customers
  • Petersburg: 1,793 customers
  • Chesterfield County: 768 customers
  • Charles City County: 563 customers
  • New Kent County: 308 customers

At the peak of the outages on the evening of Sunday, July 27, more than 90,000 customers were without electricity.

Dominion Energy crews continue working to restore power across the affected areas.
