VIRGINIA — Strong winds moving through parts of Virginia left thousands of homes and businesses without electricity as of Saturday morning.

According to outage tracking website PowerOutage.us, about 14,468 customers across the state are without power, representing roughly 0.36% of the more than 4 million customers monitored in Virginia.

Stafford County reported the highest number of outages, with about 5,297 customers without electricity. Chesapeake had more than 3,100 outages, while Fairfax County reported about 1,700 customers without power. Loudoun and Prince William counties each reported more than 1,100 outages.

Dominion Energy reported the largest number of outages among utilities in the state, with nearly 14,000 customers affected. Smaller numbers of outages were also reported by Rappahannock Electric Cooperative and Appalachian Power Company.

Utility crews were working to restore service as conditions allowed. Officials said strong winds were responsible for downed trees and power lines in several areas, leading to scattered outages across the state.
