
TEXAS — More than 7,000 homes and businesses across Texas are without electricity as of Thursday morning, according to the latest statewide outage data.
Utility trackers reported that 7,105 customers are experiencing power outages statewide, representing about 0.05% of the 15,515,457 electric customers monitored across Texas.
Compared with the rest of the country, Texas currently ranks third nationwide for the total number of power outages and 12th for the percentage of customers affected.
Outages were reported in several parts of the state, with Harris County experiencing the highest number. Harris County had 2,773 customers without power, accounting for roughly 0.12% of its total customers, the highest percentage impact among Texas counties. Out of Texas’ 254 counties, Harris County was the hardest hit both in total outages and by percentage.
The state’s power grid includes service from 78 utilities. CenterPoint Energy reported the most outages, with 3,336 customers without power. Meanwhile, Rio Grande Electric Cooperative had the highest percentage of customers affected, with about 0.51% experiencing outages.
Utility crews continue monitoring conditions and restoring service where disruptions are reported.
