Thousands without power in Texas

TEXAS — Nearly 6,000 customers are without electricity across Texas as of Sunday evening, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

Officials reported 5,911 outages statewide, affecting about 0.04% of more than 15.6 million customers tracked.

The largest number of outages are reported in Kleberg County, where 1,293 customers were without power.

Hidalgo County followed with 1,165 outages, while Jeff Davis County reported 863 outages. Additional outages were reported in Harris County with 800 customers affected and Dallas County with 352.

Other impacted areas included Montgomery County with 265 outages, Webb County with 193 and Cameron County with 172.

Utility provider American Electric Power Texas reported the highest number of outages, with 3,747 customers affected. Other utilities reporting outages included CenterPoint Energy, Oncor and Entergy.

Texas had one of the highest total outage counts nationwide Sunday evening, according to the tracking service. The cause of the outages was not immediately known, and restoration timelines were not provided.
