
TEXAS — More than 6,000 homes and businesses across Texas are without electricity Friday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.
The outage tracking service reported 6,208 customers without power out of more than 15.5 million customers monitored statewide, representing about 0.04% of customers. Texas currently ranks 15th in the United States for total power outages, according to the site’s latest update.
CenterPoint Energy reported the largest number of outages, with 4,011 customers without electricity. Other utilities reporting outages included Oncor with 856 customers affected, American Electric Power Texas with 491, and Nueces Electric Cooperative with 387. Austin Energy reported 123 customers without power.
Several counties reported outages Friday morning. Harris County had the largest number with 3,201 customers without power, followed by Tarrant County with 495 and Cameron County with 342. Other counties reporting outages included Kenedy County with 309 customers, Galveston County with 259, and Fort Bend County with 237.
Utility crews continue working to restore service in affected areas.
